Atlanta Falcons working out three running backs to replace B.J. Daniels

No one hits highs and lows quite like Daniels. A few weeks ago he was mentioned as a surprise third running back. Now the team is replacing him.

We passed along the news that the Falcons have gotten rid of the injured B.J. Daniels. The team was looking at David Cobb, former fantasy football sleeper and current journeyman, as a potential replacement. Well that’s not all. The team is kicking the tires on a few more players looking to replace Daniels.

We are learning that former Minnesota Gophers running back David Cobb will not be alone in his workout with the Falcons.

According to a source, Cobb will be joined by Jhurell Pressley and Bralon Addison.

I spent about 10,000 hours every year reading about football, and I am pretty certain I have never heard of either player. What should you know? None of these players should be making the roster, but I am growing concerned the team keeps adding competition for Brian Hill.

Obviously, Devonta Freeman is out the rest of the preseason with a concussion. With B.J. Daniels injured, the Falcons still have Tevin Coleman, Terron Ward, and Kelvin Taylor at running back. Hill, a 5th round pick, had a pretty weak preseason debut, has been rarely mentioned during training camp, and was listed as a potential cut by Vaughn McClure.

It is a little odd that Hill won’t see more snaps through the rest of preseason.

Short of anything changing, I fully expect Ward to keep that third running back spot. Hill’s best hope may be grabbing onto a practice squad spot, assuming he can beat out the likes of David Cobb, Jhurell Pressley, and Bralon Addison.
