The Atlanta Falcons will face off against the Miami Dolphins tomorrow night. It’s preseason football, but it means something for Falcons fans, if only because we’re eager to officially kick off the 2017 season and start putting the Super Bowl collapse in the rear view mirror.
Kevin Graf is fighting for a chance to become the Falcons swing tackle in 2017. He won’t play tomorrow night after suffering a right arm injury.
Both Julio Jones (foot) and Taylor Gabriel (lower leg) won’t play either. Both men are at the tail end of their recovery from injuries they’ve navigated throughout the offseason. I have no problem with the team being cautious when it comes to those two.
Running back B.J. Daniels is injured and won’t play, which is why the Falcons signed former Florida Gators running back Kelvin Taylor. (That said, Quinn ruled Taylor out too earlier today.) Expect to see a healthy dose of 5th round draft pick Brian Hill.
Martin Ifedi suffered an ankle injury and won’t play. (The former 2015 7th round draft pick is trying desperately to crack this talented roster, so it’s less-than-ideal that he’s sidelined.) Jack Crawford is trying to overcome a groin injury, so don’t be surprised if he doesn’t play. Finally, first round draft pick Takkarist McKinley was only recently cleared following his recovery from shoulder surgery and will likely be a game time decision. If he plays, he won’t play much.
