We’ve been waiting since February for real football, and while there are no games just yet, training camp officially kicks off today. No more casting about for topics to occupy our Falcons interest, or speculating wildly about how a position battle is going to go. We’re going to be seeing it firsthand in the days and weeks to come.
The players are reporting today, which means there’s nothing but cool photos and a little chatter about who looks like they’re In The Best Shape Of Their Life (TM), but that’s enough for a start.
Tomorrow is the first public practice of training camp, so you should absolutely plan to attend. Here’s the full schedule one more time, in case you missed it.
Wednesday, July 26: Team Reports
Thursday, July 27 (PUBLIC): Gates open at 8:30 a.m., practice starts at 9:30 a.m.
Friday, July 28 (PUBLIC): Gates open at 8:30, practice starts at 9:30
Saturday, July 29 (PUBLIC): Gates open at 8:30, practice starts at 9:30
Sunday, July 30 (PUBLIC): Gates open at 8:30, practice starts at 9:30
Monday, July 31: Players off
Tuesday, August 1 (PUBLIC): Gates open at 8:30, practice starts at 9:30
Wednesday, August 2 (PUBLIC): Gates open at 8:30, practice starts at 9:30
Thursday, August 3 (PUBLIC): Gates open at 8:30, practice starts at 9:30
Friday, August 4 (PUBLIC): Gates open at 4:05 p.m., practice starts at 5:05 p.m.
There will be, however, no Friday Night Lights for the first time in a little while. That’s the one sour note I have to sound today, but let’s welcome Falcons football back. Finally.
