The Atlanta Falcons secondary is one of the team’s biggest strengths as they get ready to kick off training camp. Assuming Desmond Trufant and company can stay healthy, opposing quarterbacks are likely to lose some sleep before they face off against the Falcons defense. But all the chatter surrounding Trufant, Robert Alford, Keanu Neal, and former UDFA Brian Poole often overshadows or completely disregards Jalen Collins.

PFF put out their preseason secondary rankings yesterday. (They ranked the Falcons secondary 5th.) But PFF’s Michael Manning did a special piece about Collins today. Here’s part of what he had to say about the third year DB:

CB Jalen Collins‘ career year earned an overall PFF grade of 81.5 to lead the Falcons cornerbacks and rank 22nd in the NFL. Collins’ grade more than doubled in quality from his rookie year (40.6 overall) and he was named the second-most improved second-year player by PFF.

Basically Collins contributes significantly to their secondary’s overall ranking. PFF is quite bullish when it comes to Collins. Are you?
