As you’re undoubtedly aware, most of the best receiving seasons in Falcons history came after Roddy White and Julio Jones joined the team. Jones accounts for the three top seasons in yardage and the best ever in terms of receptions, while Roddy’s got the fourth and fifth best yardage seasons and the second most receptions in a single year. They’ve dominated, plain and simple.
Before they came along, though, there was a single season that stood out as absurdly great in this franchise’s history, and still looks like one of the best seasons in franchise history. The man in question was one of the best players to ever catch passes in a Falcons uniform, and he set a single season franchise record that would last quite a while. He also averaged over 19 yards per reception (!) that year. That’s pretty impressive considering he wasn’t playing in the hyper pass-happy era we see today, though it takes nothing away from Roddy and Julio that they didn’t do so.
If you can name the man, do so!
