Welcome to minicamp, y’all.

Mandatory minicamp kicks off today! This is the most football-like of all the things we’re going to see until late July, so soak it in.

I don’t have any particular expectations for today, except that we should get another look at the roster, a handful of good quotes, and probably a photo or video of a highlight reel play from Deion Jones. You know, the usual.

A few things to watch for over the next few days:

  • The young offensive linemen. There’s one or two spots up for grabs on the line, and the odds favor one of the undrafted free agents if they can impress early. This is another shot to do just that.
  • If Jalen Collins is going to make his case for increased playing time with Desmond Trufant healthy and Brian Poole seemingly the frontrunner for nickel...well, he’d better get started.
  • The kick and punt returner gigs are fairly wide open, with Andre Roberts the favorite because of his veteran status. Everyone from Taylor Gabriel to Brian Hill could be in play there, though, so watch carefully to see how the team uses them.

You can follow along with updates on the embedded Twitter feed below, and hopefully we’ll have plenty of interesting things to report.
