Looking ahead: What will be the 2017 NFL playoff field?

Will the Falcons be back?

I’ve yet to see much discussion about the possibility of regression for the Atlanta Falcons, changing fortunes in the NFC South, and so forth. Some of that is presumably due to the fact that the Falcons are still the obvious class of the division, and the other is that we’re very focused on the offseason.

It’s still early, but I think this is a good time for us to put our cards on the table and figure out who we think will be good enough to make the postseason dance in 2017. I’ve got mine, plus the seeding I think is likeliest. What we’ll do is re-visit this in late August to see if any of these still seem accurate, and again after the season when we know they were not accurate.

AFC

#1: New England Patriots

#2: Kansas City Chiefs

#3: Indianapolis Colts

#4: Baltimore Ravens

#5: Denver Broncos

#6: Jacksonville Jaguars

NFC

#1: Seattle Seahawks

#2: Dallas Cowboys

#3: Atlanta Falcons

#4: Green Bay Packers

#5: Minnesota Vikings

#6: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tomorrow, I’ll talk a little more about why I don’t think the Falcons will repeat as a top two seed in the NFC, and why they still should be a playoff team. In the meantime, give us your playoff field.
