The Atlanta Falcons landed Takkarist McKinley in the first round, but the rest of the teams in the NFC South were very active, too. Here are the first round picks for the rest of the division.
Carolina Panthers
Pick 8: Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford
New Orleans Saints
Pick 11: Marshon Lattimore, CB Ohio State
Pick 32 (from New England Patriots): Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Pick 19: O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama
We’ll take a more in depth look at these selections when we review everyone’s draft class, but suffice it to say the rest of the division also had a good first round with impact players taken on either side of the ball.
The Panthers improved their offense with the McCaffrey selection. The Saints look a bit better on both sides of the ball with a pair of impact players. And the Buccaneers added to an already scary offense with Howard at tight end. Whether any of these moves make these teams a threat to the Falcons remains to be seen, though.
