The NFL Draft is finally arriving, and soon the Atlanta Falcons will begin to answer our questions about their draft priorities. It’s an exciting time, and I’ll be glad to get it done with so we can start talking about the roster and the season ahead in earnest.
For the Falcons, it will be key to come out of tonight with an impact player, or to pick up additional draft choices through a move down. I’m betting on the former, and hoping Atlanta’s able to stay at #31 and get a player they love without surrendering additional draft choices. Whatever they do, though, I just hope they land the kind of difference-making player that ensures this team stays relevant in 2017.
Use this as your open thread for tonight’s draft festivities, and follow along with our Twitter tracker below. I’ll update this story with any big rumors or earth-shaking NFC South acquisitions.
NFL Draft Updates
- With Derek Barnett, Charle
- The Saints got talented cornerback Marshon Lattimore, and the Cardinals scooped up potential Falcons trade target Haason Reddick at #13. That’s one guy Atlanta was interested in off the board.
- Christian McCaffrey is an excellent pick for the Panthers. He can thrive even with a lousy offensive line, he’s a versatile weapon, and he’ll help Carolina right away. Naturally, I hate it.
- Nothing too crazy, except for this.
Wow. Cleveland is trying to trade for Kirk Cousins. This is real.

- I can’t believe the Chicago Bears gave up a king’s ransom to take Mitchell Trubisky at #2. That’s one of the worst draft day trades I can remember.
