The Atlanta Falcons took a careful, subdued approach during free agency. It’s obvious they’re not trying to reinvent the wheel - they just want to reload and hopefully replicate 2016’s success. In short, they’ve given pundits no reason to doubt their status as one the NFL’s best teams.

ESPN published their post-free agency power rankings today. They ranked the Falcons second, right behind the New England Patriots.

The Falcons have been fairly quiet this offseason, but the signing of Dontari Poe should prove to be a big boost to the defense in 2017. The Falcons allowed 4.5 yards per rush between the tackles last season, fifth-worst in the NFL, and saw an NFL-worst 46 percent of their sacks come from one player. Poe should help both fronts.

This is about right. ESPN thinks they will basically show us more of the same in 2017. That’s good news, if you ask me.
