Should the Falcons add Josh Gordon, even though they won’t?

Yes. But also no.

Every team in the NFL is going to ask this question in the coming weeks, so consider this our contribution to the circle. Will the Falcons sign Josh Gordon?

No. The reality is that only teams desperate for star power and receiving help will take a shot on Gordon, which means someone like the Los Angeles Rams or Washington Redskins will wind up snapping him up. The Atlanta Falcons, who have big money contracts out to Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu, and Taylor Gabriel and Justin Hardy capable of contributing, probably aren’t going to spend a lot of time and money on a wide receiver who can’t seem to stay in the league. Gordon is insanely good, but he’s also a potential headache, albeit a relatively low cost one at this point.

Still, Gordon is just 25 years old (!) and an incredible talent, so if he did end up in Atlanta, I’d be happy with the signing. I’d even advocate for the shot. Just don’t get your hopes up.
