The Atlanta Falcons defense is slowly but surely transforming. At some point during Dan Quinn’s career, he probably sat at a rickety table in the corner of a musty locker room, crumpled napkins spread out in front of him. Those napkins were probably covered with scribbles detailing various renditions of a cover 3 zone. I’m not sure if he knew he’d take a team to the Super Bowl in his second year as a head coach. But I like to think he probably saw it coming.
Quinn has done a lot to revamp the Falcons defense. His overhaul of the linebacker corps is particularly impressive. It’s even more impressive when you consider the bang the Falcons are getting for their buck right now.
Check out how the Falcons are spending their money in 2017. Pay close attention to what they’re spending at linebacker.

5 percent? Seriously? I spend five percent of my income on lattes at Starbucks. Why? Because they’re both delicious and energizing, of course. Down the road, players like Deion Jones and Vic Beasley are going to get substantial raises. For now, let’s enjoy the discount.
