Dan Quinn has preached a better relationship amongst his players. Quinn calls this the brotherhood, and in one instance, brothership. Part of the team’s transformation last season was a better relationship between players. We noticed the difference last offseason when Matt Ryan ran an offseason camp for players. Players referenced it a ton when discussing the improved team, producing a more motivated team.

Well, Ryan is hosting another camp and inviting more players. Dan Quinn isn’t allowed, but no word if he will watch on binoculars to make sure no one is dogging it. He’s always watching and wants 110% effort even in March.

Per D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Last season, about 27 players participated in the camp that was held at a Fort Lauderdale High school. This year the offensive linemen and kickers are set to join the skill position players.

Quinn was elated to hear the news about the gathering.

“It kind of lights me up in a big way that they are going to go down and spend the time together even before we start,” Quinn said. “That’s kind of like their spring training for pitchers and catchers.”

As Ledbetter mentioned, the camps were modeled after Peyton Manning’s offseason camps. Thanks in part to the camps, Manning put up prolific numbers and yelled at other players at an elite rate.

This is great news. The allowable offseason keeps getting shorter and we have seen teams look rusty through the first month of the year. Ryan can work on his timing with different players while building a closer relationship. If anything, it shows the players have bought into Dan Quinn’s brotherhood mantra.
