One of the few rumored players with easy connections to the Falcons has been Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Dontari Poe. Dan Quinn has Grady Jarrett and... a lot of depth guys in the middle. The team is certainly short of big bodies to clog the middle, and there aren’t any bigger bodies than Poe.
Assistant general manager Scott Pioli took a chance on Poe by drafting him 11th overall when he ran the Chiefs. Two Pro Bowls later, Poe left after a down season along with a back injury. Can this turn out better than the Tyson Jackson disaster? If rumors are true, it will.
Continue to hear the Falcons linked to Chiefs DT Dontari Poe. Very good chance he does 1yr deal to relaunch as a UFA next March

Again, Poe has health concerns and is coming off a bad season to a pretty health market of defensive linemen. He is clearly not being offered a blockbuster deal. It makes sense for him to try again next year on a one-year deal, and his old friend Pioli would likely be interested in bringing on one of his better draft picks.
How much would Poe sign for? That’s a good question. There’s no way to spread out the cap hit, meaning it would be tough for the Falcons to offer him much more than $5 million or so.
