Matt Ryan’s streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass ends at 28

It has been a streak-ending season for Ryan.

Earlier this year, Matt Ryan’s historic streak of games with at least 200 yards passing came to a screeching halt. It was sad to see the streak go, but hey, the Falcons still win, so it wasn’t anything we were particularly bummed about.

Losing a 28 game passing touchdown streak while losing to the Vikings, though? That stings.

That’s exactly what happened Sunday against Minnesota, as Ryan and this offense put together one of their most inept performances of the entire season, aided significantly by Minnesota’s excellence. Ryan had a few inaccurate throws, there were at least two drops, and the Vikings played lockdown coverage, and the result was that Ryan put up under 200 yards and did not manage a passing touchdown. That put the final nail in his MVP case—not that he had much of a shot at it--and it leaves the Falcons badly needing wins over the last four weeks.

At the end of the day, streaks are great for individual players and those of us who have to write about it, but the Falcons would certainly take a win streak over that right now. Hopefully they can start a new one on Thursday night.
