Every week is vital this late in the year, especially with Atlanta needing just one more win to make the playoffs. Even if there was nothing at stake, though, this one would still feel important.
That’s because it’s a game against the Saints, a team most of us (and most of the actual Falcons team) loathes. New Orleans did a number on the Falcons during the Mike Smith years and currently lead the NFC South, meaning the road to the playoffs and the division quite literally runs through them. Pair that with the ugliness of both these games and the off-the-field shenanigans and you’ve got a compelling matchup every time out. With Dan Quinn and the Falcons having won each of the last three games, and with New Orleans at home, things get even more interesting for a revenge-thirsty Saints team.
Here’s what you’ll need to know to watch the game Sunday. We think you won’t want to miss a moment.
Falcons vs. Saints info
When: Sunday, December 24, 1 p.m. EST
Where: The Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana
Channel: FOX
Odds: The Falcons are about a touchdown underdog at the moment
Key Questions: Will the Saints be able to play better at home, avoiding costly penalties and getting that offense going? Can Atlanta reverse a recent trend and play an aggressive, strong game from wire-to-wire on the road? Will Sean Payton run on the field angrily again?
