The Atlanta Falcons will be getting Andy Levitre and Tevin Coleman back Sunday, if all goes well. But there’s still one injury to watch with some concern, and it belongs to (?) none other than Julio Jones.
Julio had a relatively quiet effort against the Buccaneers, and it appears we can point to an ankle/thumb injury as one of the reasons why. Julio was out yesterday and will be limited throughout the week, per Dan Quinn.
Warrior that he is, Julio is unlikely to miss the Saints game, but a limited Julio is not a world-wrecking Julio, and the Falcons probably need the latter against New Orleans on the road. If he’s at all limited, it will probably mean a larger role for Justin Hardy, who has proven to be a reliable option of late, particularly in the red zone. Hopefully a little extra rest for #11 will make all the difference in the world, and he’ll be able to take the field and create a little havoc against the Saints.
It bears watching, though, because an injury this late in the season, with the playoffs potentially looming, is a less than ideal scenario for perhaps the team’s most talented player.
