Matt Ryan becomes the 21st quarterback in NFL history to throw 250 touchdown passes

It’s a testament to how good he is, but you knew how good he is.

With his six yard strike to Mohamed Sanu, which capped a scoring drive that put the Falcons up 10-0 against the Carolina Panthers, Matt Ryan joined an exclusive club. The touchdown gave him 250 scoring passes in his career, and he became the 21st quarterback in NFL history to reach that plateau.

As Ryan has now captured every Falcons franchise record worth considering at quarterback, he’s turned his attention to the league’s record books, and this is another testament to how quietly, consistently great he has been over the course of his career. We’ve argued in the past that Ryan could have a Hall of Fame resume by the time his career wraps up, though that may depend on whether he can help get these Falcons a Lombardi Trophy. This is another mark on the post for Ryan.

Let’s hope that Ryan and company can keep the good times rolling against the Panthers, getting a win and adding to Ryan’s total. His place in history is still being decided, but he’ll go down as a Falcons great, and probably one of the better quarterbacks in NFL history.
