The Georgia Dome was host to the Olympics, the Final Four, a Super Bowl, and some of the greatest moments in the history of the Atlanta Falcons. It has, unfortunately, reached the end of its life.
At 7:30 a.m. this very morning, the Georgia Dome will be imploded, likely with the help of some pretty serious explosives. The chances of it collapsing and creating a tiny black hole are (I hope) quite small, but at the end of the process, the stadium will be little more than rubble.
It’s a sad end for a stadium that hosted some genuinely tremendous moments, including multiple NFC Conference Championship Games, but Mercedes-Benz Stadium is the new, state-of-the-art venue in town, and there’s not enough room for both.
If you’d like to watch the stadium implode, tears shining in your eyes, you can do so at the link below. Share your favorite Georgia Dome memories with us here, as well.
We will have the only camera INSIDE the Georgia Dome for the implosion tomorrow morning.
