Bears vs. Vikings Week 5 Monday Night Football key info and open thread

It’s Mitch Trubisky’s debut.

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears Matt Marton-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL has seen two highly-touted rookie quarterbacks get starts thus far in 2017, with DeShone Kizer largely flailing on yet another bad Browns team, and Deshaun Watson playing some excellent football to the Texans thus far. They’re about to see a third one, with #2 overall pick Mitch Trubisky about to step on the field for the Bears against the Vikings.

Chicago is not a contender this year, in all likelihood, so what Trubisky gives this franchise is genuine hope for the first time since Jay Cutler wasn’t universally despised. If he can play well against a pretty stellar Vikings defense, chances are he can play well against anyone, and the Bears might just be a spoiler in the NFC this year. If not, well...there’s always next year in Chicago.

The Vikings, meanwhile, get a massive upgrade at quarterback with Sam Bradford returning from injury, relegating Case Keenum to the bench where he probably belongs. Minnesota looks like one of the true contenders in the NFC if Bradford is healthy, so watch tonight to see how they fare against a Bears defense that has been ruining a lot of days thus far in 2017.
