What you need to know for Week 6’s Falcons-Dolphins battle

This should be a chance for Atlanta to avenge a Week 4 loss to an AFC East opponent.

There are no guarantees in the NFL. Sometimes good teams get absolutely rocked by lousy ones, and sometimes you have a close call against a team that looks completely inferior on paper. With those disclaimers out of the way, the Falcons should be able to crush the Miami Dolphins this coming weekend, and all of us will be watching to see if they can do it. Thankfully, it is not a preseason game.

The reasons for this are myriad. Atlanta’s rested, getting a couple of key players back, and at home. The Dolphins have a cooked Jay Cutler at quarterback, a roster with wildly inconsistent talent levels, and exactly zero games this season where they scored more than 20 points. For all the on-paper talent and the praise that gets lobbed at Adam Gase, the Dolphins just don’t appear to be any good.

With the Panthers seizing first place all to themselves this past weekend—and with a tough matchup against the Eagles looming—the Falcons need this win. The schedule’s about to get a bit tougher with a road trip to the Patriots coming next, and the Falcons have to keep showing they can take care of business. I have confidence they will.

Here’s what you’ll need to know to watch the game this coming Sunday.
