Atlanta Falcons talk: Will this be a career year for Devonta Freeman?

He’s on pace for one.

Tonight, let’s talk about one of the best current Falcons. I’m speaking of Devonta Freeman, who somehow slipped to the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, spent a season toiling behind a cooked Steven Jackson, and then broke out in spectacular fashions. He’s one of the better runners in the entire NFL, something he seemingly confirms on a weekly basis.

Is he headed for a career year in 2017?

As I’ve alluded numerous times over the last week or so, I fully expect Freeman to have one of the finest season of his young career. I think he’ll wind up with a career high in yards and rushing touchdowns under Steve Sarkisian, who hasn’t been shy about using Freeman in any of the team’s four games. He’s on pace for a career high in carries, as well, but I’m hopeful the Falcons won’t lean on him too heavily, especially if they’re headed to the playoffs.

I don’t think he’s going to hit his projections exactly, but I think something in the order of 270 carries for 1,100 yards and 15 touchdowns is a very reasonable expectation given what we’ve seen from him thus far. How about you?

Once you’ve answered, use this as your open thread for the evening. Then we’re on to a Falcons-free Sunday, which feels weird, man.
