This weekend, the Atlanta Falcons can finally quiet some of the talk about their struggling offense, struggling run defense, Super Bowl hangover, Steve Sarkisian hire, and ineptitude against the AFC East this year. That talk has to be wearisome inside the building, because it is certainly not a lot of fun outside the building.
To do so, they’ll need to vanquish the New York Jets in New Jersey. Atlanta’s offensive struggles have been well-documented here and elsewhere in the last couple of weeks, but suffice to say they’ll need to get by a quality Jets line and emerging secondary to win this one, while quieting a Jets offense that hasn’t been the inept mess it looked like it would be. This game is a bigger challenge than it should be by talent level alone, in other words, and thus a win here should not be taken lightly. A loss, meanwhile, would drop Atlanta to 3-4 and leave them still searching for solutions to their ongoing crises, and make the NFC South that much harder to win.
I do believe Atlanta has what it takes to win this one, so hopefully they’ll reverse the slide and start a resurgent ten game stretch. I don’t want to think about the alternative right now, so let’s just skip ahead to the essential information.
Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Jets Week 8
Time: Sunday, October 29nd, 1:00 p.m. EST
Location: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
TV Channel: FOX
Announcers: Booth: Sam Rosen & Ronde Barber

Odds: The Falcons are favored by between 3-4 points
Prediction: Falcons win, 24-20
Key Questions: Can the Falcons outscore the Jets, please? Will the offense get back on track in some regard and score 20-plus points? Will the Falcons be able to get off the field on defense and stop a decent Jets ground attack? Are all these questions super depressing?
