Falcons will reportedly re-add Taniela Tupou to the practice squad

It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks for him.

Life, improbably, goes on for these Atlanta Falcons. They still have to adjust the roster and try to improve a bad situation as they can, so you can expect to see little moves roll on and little adjustment come up in press conferences and so forth. Dan Quinn has promised there won’t be sweeping changes—yet, anyways—and so we’ll settle for things like Taniela Tupou re-joining the practice squad.

Tupou, you’ll recall, was up for exactly one game against Miami, playing a handful of snaps. He provides the team with some depth at defensive tackle in case of injury, or Joe Vellano continuing to struggle against the run as the season grinds on. The hope is that the recently-signed Ahtyba Rubin can provide some of that run-stopping prowess the Falcons have been missing, especially after the Patriots ground out 160 yards by steadily picking up 5, 8, or even 10 yards as they went.

So we’re glad the Falcons are keeping some interesting young players like Tupou around, but hopefully they right the ship and these guys won’t be needed until 2018.
