The day has finally come. The Falcons get another shot at the Patriots after Atlanta’s humiliating Super Bowl LI loss, and most of the Falcoholic’s editors think the Falcons walk away with a win this time.
Sure, it’s not as meaningful as a Super Bowl win would be, obviously. They don’t give out trophies for regular-season matchups. But maybe — just maybe — the Falcons can get people to lay off the 28-3 jokes for a hot second if they do pull off the win.
The Patriots aren’t as good this year, but frankly, it doesn’t seem like the Falcons are, either. These teams should be pretty evenly matched, and if the Falcons can take advantage of a weak Patriots defense, they can put themselves in a position to beat New England. But the Falcons defense also has to stop Tom Brady and company, which is why I’m less optimistic this week.
We’re all in agreement on the Bills beating the Buccaneers. Every other game we picked this week is a split decision.
Last week wasn’t just a sad one because of the Falcons’ frustrating loss to the Dolphins. It was also tragic for our picks, which were just mostly totally wrong. Dave Choate tied Matt Chambers at No. 1 this week with records of 24-12. Kendall Jackson and Kevin Knight are next, with 21-15 records, then it’s me at 20-16. David Walker brings up the rear with a record of 18-18.
Here are our picks for this week’s games.
