ESPN’s Vaughn McClure has a report indicating that Mohamed Sanu, who exited Sunday’s game with a leg injury, has a hamstring ailment and will be out at least a couple of weeks. That’s a blow to this Falcons offense, albeit one that will hopefully be mitigated by the return of Julio Jones and Ryan Schraeder.
The timeline puts Sanu out for at least the Dolphins game, in all likelihood, unless he heals up with miraculous quickness. If he can’t go, it’s safe to say the Falcons will utilize Nick Williams, Andre Roberts and Taylor Gabriel more, with Williams the likeliest beneficiary after he came in and drew a few targets against the Bills. Expect to see more Levine Toilolo, as well? Hoo, injuries suck.
Sanu has 16 receptions for 163 yards and a touchdown thus far, and has proven to be his usual reliable self with the exception of one ugly bobble-drop that wound up turning into a Lions interception. I’m hopeful he’ll return in time for the Patriots game in Week 7, when Matt Ryan and company could really use him against one of the NFL’s weakest offenses.
Heal up fast!
Looks likes 2-to-3 week hamstring injury for Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu, according to league source. With the bye... https://t.co/KXYy1nQ1C4
