The Atlanta Falcons shuffled their roster today, and the victim was fifth round running back Brian Hill. We kept trying to figure out where Hill was going to fit in. Was he going to replace Devonta Freeman next season if he left in free agency. Nope, Freeman signed a long-term deal. Was he going to be an upgrade over Terron Ward? Nope, Ward easily outperformed Hill throughout preseason.
I guess the Falcons couldn’t figure it out, either, because they just burned up Atlanta’s fifth round pick.

Hill was listed by ESPN’s Vaughn McClure as a potential cut during preseason, and had generally failed to do much in both training camp and preseason. He was injured for the first few games of the season, and finishes his Falcons career (unless they bring him back) with 0 carries and 0 catches for 0 yards and 0 touchdowns.
The Falcons promoted Marvin Hall, who played for offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian in college. He showed a little flash during preseason, and is likely needed with Mohamed Sanu out, and the rest of the team’s pass catchers playing inconsistently.
