I try very hard not to be guilty of underselling the Falcons’ opponents. Generally, I believe a team can take you to your limit on their best day, no matter how bad they are on paper.
That said, the Miami Dolphins strain even my limits in this regard. It’s not that they’re a truly bad team so much as it is that they are currently playing extremely poorly, and while the defense figures to continue to play teams tough, the offense just offers so little upside. They’ve scored just three touchdowns in four games thus far, and while that pace is probably not sustainable, they lack the playmakers that would convince me a massive turnaround is coming. With Jay Cutler still at the helm against a rested Falcons defense at home, only a tremendous effort by the Dolphins D is going to keep them in this game, much less win it.
So yes, it’s fair to say I feel confident about this one, and a weak Falcons effort would legitimately concern me. These are the stakes of this Week 6 game. Let us hope the Falcons turn it into a laugher early so we can enjoy a relaxing Sunday, for once.
Here’s what you need to know for the game.
