The Falcons get to play the Seahawks in the Georgia Dome this coming Saturday, where they memorably won back in the 2012 Divisional Round. One hopes the result will be the same, and as you would expect, the oddsmakers expect Atlanta to win.
The opening line for this game had the Falcons at -3.5, a little over a field goal, which is fair for the circumstances. The line has since migrated to -4 or -4.5, depending on where you look, which likely reflects the knowledge that Detroit was not exactly a stiff challenge for Seattle, and the Falcons have the offensive firepower to win this one. I wouldn’t expect a blowout—Seattle just won a matchup earlier this season by two points, and they’re still a tough team—but a Falcons win feels likely.
This line could move further if the Seahawks are at all diminished by injury heading into Saturday, or if everyone suddenly realizes that the Falcons can probably put up 35 even on this defense. Because, you know, they can.
