Panthers vs. Broncos: Thursday Night Football Info for Week 1

Everything you need to know for the very first game of the season, which just so happens to be a Super Bowl rematch.

Cam Newton may not consider this game a rematch, but it is. The defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos take on the Carolina Panthers, the team they thankfully beat handily in last year’s big game. We’ll hope, of course, that Denver wins again.

For fans of one of the other teams hoping to win the NFC South, this is a very important game. Denver somehow got even weaker at quarterback and lost a couple of key pieces on defense, but they still have the talent to be one of the better teams in the NFL. Carolina, meanwhile, is out to prove that their 15-1 year in 2015 was the new normal for the franchise, not a fluke, and beating Denver would afford them some small measure of revenge.

If we’re lucky, a sound Broncos win will mark a spiral for Carolina, opening up the division for the Falcons, but we may be getting a little ahead of ourselves. For now, check below and let’s talk our way through the game.

Panthers vs. Broncos Game Info

What: Carolina Panthers (0-0) @ Denver Broncos (0-0)

When: Thursday, September 8, 8:30 p.m. EST

Story lines to Watch: It’s a Super Bowl rematch! Can Cam Newton and the Panthers play at the same high level in 2015? Is Trevor Siemian any good, or is he absolute garbage? Is the Denver defense so good that it doesn’t matter who plays quarterback?
