Falcons vs. Buccaneers series history: Atlanta can tie it back up Sunday

Atlanta can even things up with a win in Week 1.

Winslow Oliver #33...

The Falcons and Buccaneers haven’t been rivals forever, but these two largely sad sack franchises have still had a contentious, even series history.

Tampa Bay took the lead in the all-time series last year by sweeping the Falcons, which was painful to watch in many ways. Tampa Bay’s ex-Falcons coaching staff and bizarre draft day trade into the second round for a kicker aside, that team has a brighter future than it has in many years, so we can’t take a home victory in Week 1 for granted, as much as we might like to.

This game is important for the Falcons because they can get to 1-0 in what promises to be a hard-fought season, but it also represents an opportunity for Atlanta to tie the all-time series back up. I’d enjoy that.
