The Falcons have been quietly poking around and looking for guys that could either sign now or serve as depth later in the season if injuries strike, and you can add another former Alabama player to the list.

Sims will try out as a running back, as McClure notes, and realistically the Gainesville native would be hoping to catch on as a member of the team’s practice squad. The only running back there currently is Gus Johnson, who had impressive moments this summer but was cut by Atlanta ahead of Week 4 of preseason. We’re also not sure Terron Ward is 100% healthy, so if you really wanted to read too far into this, you could wonder aloud whether the Falcons are going to do some drastic shuffling at the bottom of their RB depth chart.
In all likelihood, though, Sims will get a workout and keep moving. Keep an eye out over the next couple of days, though, just in case.
