A surprising move for the Falcons

The Falcons made a surprising waiver wire claim today, grabbing speedy receiver Taylor Gabriel from the Cleveland Browns.

The expectation was that the Falcons would likely make moves to improve their cornerback depth or get some additional backup help at Center. Grabbing a wide receiver was unexpected, but here we are.

Taylor Gabriel is a shorter receiver at just 5’8” and around 170 pounds. However, what he lacks in size he makes up for in blinding speed. Gabriel reportedly ran a 4.28 in his 40 yard dash during his Pro-Day.

With the Falcons claiming Gabriel, it also means someone currently on the 53-man roster will be cut. The likeliest candidates would be Eric Weems and Nick Williams, though TE Josh Perkins is another potential candidate. If I were to put money on it, I would bank on Nick Williams being cut at this point.

What are your thoughts on this surprising waiver wire claim for the Falcons?
