The roster cuts came in yesterday, and now we simply wait until after 1 p.m., when the Falcons can add up to ten players to their practice squad.
If you’re unfamiliar with practice squad rules, you can read our primer. Suffice to say if a player doesn’t have a lot of NFL experience and is someone you think the Falcons might want to develop, they’re probably going to be in consideration for a practice squad spot this year. It will be particularly interesting to see how many young players in the secondary wind up on the squad, given that Atlanta’s a little thin there through the first few weeks of the season.
If you’re searching for a list of likely names, comb through the roster cuts. Promising young players like Sharrod Neasman, J.D. McKissic, and Joey Mbu were cut loose, but the Falcons almost certainly want to keep them around to develop and serve as depth in case injuries rock the 53 man roster.
Here’s our tracker. Stay tuned!
