Falcons roster cuts: Tracking the moves to get to a 53 man roster

The Falcons need to get from 64 players to 53 man by 4 p.m. today, and we’re following along with the action.

Today, the Falcons must make 11 more roster cuts en route to a 53 man roster. They’ll need to do so by 4 p.m. Eastern time, too, so there’s not a lot of time for indecision.

The toughest cuts will inevitably come today, after the Falcons made 11 relatively easy calls yesterday. It’s worth noting that we saw reports that Tyler Starr may be cut, Brandon Wilds could hit injured reserve, and Will Ratelle could also be on IR.

Add in Jalen Collins being suspended and technically not on the roster for the first four weeks and Atlanta’s really only got seven immediate cuts left to consider, with the battles at wide receiver between Nick Williams and J.D. McKissic, cornerback between Brian Poole and C.J. Goodwin, and guard between Ben Garland, Mike Person, and Wes Schweitzer are ones to watch closely today.

Update Sat 11:20 AM: Defensive tackle Joey Mbu won’t be making the 53-man roster as well, per Vaugh McClure.

Update Sat 10:03 AM: Looks like D.J. Tialavea will be cut in favor of keeping Levine Toilolo, per Vaughn McClure.
