This is a big one. There are tougher games on this schedule, and there are going to be more important ones before all is said and done, but anytime the Falcons play the Saints it winds up being appointment television. That’s especially true when the game is in primetime.
These two teams are built to play offense much better than defense, so a shootout certainly seems likely. The Saints can rush the passer a little, but have one of the most inept secondaries in the NFL, while the Falcons basically mirror that. Drew Brees has been a Falcon killer his entire career and that’ll likely continue, but unlike last year, I feel really good about this Atlanta offense being able to keep up. In classic Falcons-Saints fashion, it ought to be close.
Ultimately, the Falcons can put themselves in pretty nice position for their brutal Panthers/Broncos/Seahawks stretch if they can win this one. I believe they can.
Here’s what you need to know for the game.
