This is always one of the games on the calendar you simultaneously look forward to and dread, because it pits the Atlanta Falcons against the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons and Saints have a tremendous rivalry, of course, but this has also unfortunately gone the Saints’ way a lot in recent years.
That may start to change at some point, given that the Saints are cap-strapped and heavily reliant on an aging (if still excellent) Drew Brees, while the Falcons are slowly turning over a roster that needed the help. New Orleans has managed to still play at a high level on offense, though, so this game promises to be a challenge, as it almost always is.
Here’s what you’ll need to know ahead of this week’s Monday night game, the only one the Falcons play this year.
Atlanta Falcons - New Orleans Saints Monday Night Football
What: Falcons (0-1) vs. Saints (1-0)
When: Monday, September 26 at 8:30 p.m. EST
Where: Mercedes-Benz Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana
TV Channel: ESPN
Radio: 92.9 the Game
Key Questions: Can either team’s defense hold the other team’s (potentially) potent offense in check? Can anyone stop Julio Jones? Will the Saints beat the middle of the field to death with Coby Fleener? Can the Falcons actually win on the road in the Superdome, something they haven’t done in a while?
