The Falcons have announced their first wave of cuts, bringing the roster down to 64. That means they’ll still need to cut nine players ahead of tomorrow’s 4 p.m. deadline.

As anticipated, there aren’t many huge surprises in this initial wave of cuts, with the more difficult decisions likely coming tomorrow. Goodman was a useful reserve, Capi played well this preseason, and Harris was last year’s swing tackle, but Goodman’s being replaced by Courtney Upshaw, there wasn’t a ton of room for Capi, and Tom Compton is likely taking over for Harris.
Here’s your list of cuts:
- K Shayne Graham
- DE Malliciah Goodman
- CB Devonte Johnson
- DE Nordly Capi
- G/T Laurence Gibson
- T Bryce Harris
- OL Collin Rahrig
- LB Matt Wells
- DT Cory Johnson
- S Damian Parms
- WR Corey Washington
- DT Joey Mbu
- WR J.D. McKissic
- S Sharrod Neasman
- QB Matt Simms
- TE D.J. Tialavea
In addition to these, Tyler Starr has been waived/injured, and the team reached an injury settlement with running back Brandon Wilds. Akeem King (foot) and DeMarcus Van Dyke (concussion) will go on injured reserve. Jalen Collins, obviously, will go on the reserve suspended list, and the team will have to cut someone from the 53 when he returns after his suspension.
