The Falcons are required to submit their final list of roster cuts by Saturday, September 3 at 4 p.m., and we’ll soon know what the Falcons’ 53 man roster and 10 man practice squad will look like.
The Falcons haven’t shown much willingness to waste time, making their cuts well ahead of the deadline for a 75 man roster, and it’s very possible they’ll elect to jettison 22 players before today is out.
In the interest of full disclosure, I typed up this list before the Falcons played the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, but I didn’t wind up changing my mind after slogging through the fourth preseason game. There are, of course, some borderline players on this list like the genuinely impressive J.D. McKissic and the still-useful Mike Person who may hang around, but this is my best guess at the moment.
- G Mike Person
- G Lauren Gibson
- DE Malliciah Goodman
- WR Nick Williams
- FB Will Ratelle
- DT Cory Johnson
- CB Devonte Johnson
- WR J.D. McKissic
- G Collin Rahrig
- QB Matt Simms
- LB Tyler Starr
- TE Levine Toilolo
- CB Demarcus Van Dyke
- RB Terron Ward
- WR Corey Washington
- LB Matt Wells
- DE Nordly Capi
- K Shayne Graham
- S Sharrod Neasman
- T Bryce Harris
- S Damian Parms
- TE Josh Perkins
A number of these players will wind up on the practice squad, anywhere from 5-10, with the Falcons grabbing players they like from other cut lists. There’s not a lot of surprises on that list whatsoever, but I think it leaves the Falcons with their strongest possible roster, or at least very close.
Share your prediction with us, if you would, and stay tuned for Falcons roster cut coverage the next two days.
