NFC South standings, Week 3: It’s a three way tie at the top

The Falcons, Buccaneers, and Panthers all have 1-1 records.

If you thought the Falcons were out of the running already in the NFC South, you were wrong! So wrong.

While the Buccaneers have the tiebreaker edge, there are currently three teams tied for first in the division with 1-1 records, and the Falcons are one of them. The Panthers bounced back to crush the 49ers 46-27 on Sunday, while Atlanta won 35-28 on the road against Oakland. The Buccaneers were pummeled by the Cardinals to drop them to .500, while the Saints lost their second game of the season, which is nice.

NFC South Standings

Buccaneers: 1-1

Panthers: 1-1

Falcons: 1-1

Saints: 0-2

This early in the season, no one is dead in the water just yet, though the Falcons submarining the Saints next week on Monday Night Football would go a long way toward putting the nail in that particular coffin. The Falcons have a ridiculously tough schedule coming up that may derail them sooner rather than later, but the Panthers look more vulnerable than they did a year ago and I don’t think anyone quite knows what to make of the Bucs just yet, so we’ll keep hope alive for now.
