If you’re wondering how Vegas thinks the Falcons stack up against Washington, an improved team the Falcons squeaked by in 2015 regular season action, look no further than the odds. Atlanta’s currently favored by a field goal.
As always, you have to take this with a bit of a grain of salt, given that preseason games feature a heavy dose of backups and third-stringers that make it virtually impossible to know which team is actually superior over a fourth quarter game. Still, though, you wouldn’t be remiss to assume that Atlanta is in fact the better team, even if I’ve been impressed by the early results of the rebuild in our nation’s capitol.
I think we’d all feel just fine if the Falcons got the W, stayed injury-free, and got in valuable work for starters and backups alike, and I think that’s a reasonable expectation.
The line may still move between now and Thursday, but it’s a preseason game. Please don’t overthink this.
