The Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars have deep ties thanks to the Mike Smith era and plenty of preseason meetings, but they’ve only met up six times in the regular season, and they’ve split the series.
It’s 3-3 overall, but the Falcons have been on a big of a hot streak of late, winning 3 of the last 4 games these two teams have met up. That includes last year’s 23-17 win on the road, and one of the most enjoyable victories of the Mike Smith era in 2011, a 41-14 drubbing back in 2011.
As you know, the Falcons-Jaguars pipeline has been strong for years now, with Mike Smith importing former Jaguars and the Falcons still picking up the occasional former Jacksonville player under Dan Quinn, because the temptation is strong.
This upcoming preseason game won’t count toward that total, but we’ll hope the Falcons win anyways, because bragging rights are good, no matter how lame they might be.
