We have been waiting weeks to see the team's updated and improved pass rush. Dwight Freeney playing across from Vic Beasley on third downs sounds like fun. Freeney was signed late and did not play in week one. Beasley was dealing with shoulder pain in week two.
The regular season dress rehearsal sounded like the perfect time to unleash both. But Freeney has been ruled out.
Head coach Dan Quinn made the decision to hold Freeney due to a slight back strain, but Quinn expects the veteran pass-rusher back for the final week of the preseason.
I can't imagine Freeney playing more than one drive next week but he will need to get some snaps to get game ready. The announcement is very disappointing as fans want to see one of the team's biggest offseason additions. Also out for tonight's game is kicker Matt Bryant, safety Kemal Ishmael, and running back Terron Ward
