Falcons-Dolphins preseason 2016: Miami leads the series history

You’ll begin to sense a pattern here, unfortunately, for the Atlanta Falcons.

Atlanta’s had a rough road to 2016 as a franchise, with more losses than wins by a wide margin. It’s easy to forget, given their relevance as a franchise over much of the last two decades, that they were a sorry squad for the majority of their first 30 years. Hell, they’ve had plenty of bad years in the last twenty seasons, too.

I preface this post with that sad little ditty because we’re once again talking about the Falcons losing the all-time series against an opponent. This time, it’s the Miami Dolphins, and the Falcons are down 8-4 to an admittedly august franchise.

Atlanta did win the last time these two teams met in 2013, in a 27-23 victory over the then-recently Brent Grimesed Dolphins. Before that, they had lost the previous two meetings and last won back in 2001. They lost 6 of the 7 times they met, so Atlanta has actually fared better of late.

It’s just a preseason game, but we’ll hope Atlanta can once again reverse a recent trend and win this one. It would also put the team at 3-0 in preseason for the first time in recent memory, which would be nice.
