The only people who bet on preseason games are the kind of people you would be wary of giving any money to. Hello, quite a few of our readers!
For those who wondered, the Falcons are 2.5 point underdogs to a plucky, maybe improved Cleveland team in this preseason game, probably because Atlanta is taking to the road. The Browns do have Robert Griffin III in town on a redemption tour and a young defense with some genuine talent, but it would be fair to say I’d prefer the Falcons in a game that had genuine consequences.
When we talk odds in preseason, it’s also a useful time to remind you that these performances do not, as our friend Aaron Freeman at FalcFans likes to note, indicate the relative strength of a team most of the time. You’re looking at individual performances first and foremost.
Don’t worry too much about this, obviously, because it’s preseason. You can save the disrespect talk for the regular season, which is blissfully getting closer by the day.
