Now that training camp is finally here and we have a ton of things to discuss about the Atlanta Falcons on a daily basis, we’re committed to doing our Facebook Live mailbag, in which I answer your questions about the Atlanta Falcons via live streaming video on Facebook, on a weekly basis.
Obviously, not everyone can tune into Facebook Live at the time we’re actually streaming, and some people hate Facebook and refuse to tune in at any time. If I’ve just described you, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. You can watch the video in its entirety below.
A few highlights:
- I think the rookie linebackers look great, and I think both De’Vondre Campbell and Deion Jones should win starting roles at weakside and middle linebacker, respectively.
- Austin Hooper really impressed me on Day 1. So did Mohamed Sanu.
- Wes Schweitzer is a rookie to watch. He drew praise from Jake Matthews for his ability to communicate at the line of scrimmage, which typically takes rookies a bit longer to develop.
- The Falcons have a few options to fill the return specialist void left by cutting Devin Hester. Tevin Coleman seems excited about the possibility, and they have Devin Fuller, Devonta Freeman, Eric Weems and a few others from whom to choose.
- I do not think the Falcons should sign Greg Hardy.
- I do think the Falcons should sign Dwight Freeney and O’Brien Schofield, and I think there’s a reasonably good chance they sign both.
- I talked pretty extensively about Thomas Dimitroff’s track record in free agency, and while doing so, called Ray Edwards an “Instagram model.”
- I gave some tips for anyone planning to attend training camp. Tip 1: hydrate. For the love of all that is sacred and holy, hydrate. It’s hot out there.
