The Falcons currently have three open roster spots

Expect Atlanta to make some signings over the next couple of days as training camp kicks off.

As you await training camp with bated breath—we suggest mints, ourselves—we suggest you also keep an eye on the team’s roster. Things will be changing fast in the next three days.

When the Falcons cut Devin Hester earlier today, it opened up yet another roster spot, and the Falcons will see players arrive tomorrow and camp practices officially start Thursday with only 87 players under contract. Given that the team still has needs, refused to rule out signing players like O’Brien Schofield and Dwight Freeney, and is just about to kick off a lengthy process that will end with them winnowing down from a maximum of 90 players to 53, chances are good we’re going to see three signings before the week is up.

Personally, I’m hoping for Dwight Freeney to be one of those signings, given the state of the pass rush and the fact that Freeney can still bring it as he edges closer to 40. We’ll see what lies ahead, but do remember that after a long layoff, Atlanta’s going to be making moves.
