Well, you can wonder twice as much, because now the Falcons have opened up another roster spot. Center James Stone was thought to be in the mix for either the center or guard spot coming into the 2015 season. Well, neither of those really happened. He showed up out of shape to camp and couldn't win a job over a guy who can't snap the football.
And if you forgot, Stone tore his ACL in practice back in December.
Now he is a former Falcon.
The Falcons have reached an injury settlement with C James Stone.

Atlanta apparently likes their offseason moves enough to not wait on Stone to heal up. The team brought back Chris Chester, signed Alex Mack, and drafted Wes Schweitzer in the 6th round. Considering Stone's late season injury, he was unlikely to return to full health until very late season. It makes sense that the staff did not feel like waiting for a fringe player to return to full health in 2017.
With two open roster spots the team has plenty of room some veteran additions. Lets hope one of them is Dwight Freeney.
