What will the Atlanta Falcons look like in 2018?

We’re feeling more bullish about the future Falcons than many of you will be feeling, probably.

At the end of the 2018 season, what will the Atlanta Falcons be? Super Bowl champions, cellar dwellers, or somewhere in between?

That’s the question I’m asking this morning to start your week, and it’s one that forced me to consider whether some of our favorite Falcons will even be here three years from now.

Call me an inveterate optimist if you must (and you probably will), but I do expect Dan Quinn to be here in three years, along with some of your favorite stars and rising stars like Julio Jones, Vic Beasley, and Desmond Trufant. I don’t anticipate that Thomas Dimitroff will still be the general manager at that point—the Falcons would have to be pretty great in 2016 for that, and I’m not anticipating that outcome—and I think Matt Ryan’s status is genuinely up in the air. I don’t expect the Falcons to win a Super Bowl by this time, obviously, but I do anticipate they’ll be a genuine contender. Again, optimistic.

How about you?
