I wrote yesterday that I was hoping for Falcons injury updates on Tuesday. We got them, alright, but they weren't very satisfying.
DQ says Devonta Freeman will be back for Thursday. Could have practiced but held him as a precaution.— Jeanna (@jeannathomas) June 7, 2016
No update to the injury report from OTAs except @devontafreeman was held out of team drills today— FalconsKelsey (@FalconsKelsey) June 7, 2016
Freeman's injury is not serious and will not cost him enough time to add any intrigue to the running back battle, which is obviously great news. A healthy Freeman is a well-rounded, terrific back, and the Falcons are going to need him in 2016. We should see him back practicing Thursday, as Jeanna noted.
As far as Chris Chester, Devin Hester, and Grady Jarrett go, nothing major has apparently changed. Adrian Clayborn has a strained pectoral that will keep him out for a bit but shouldn't limit him through training camp, at the very latest. I'm still concerned that training camp is going to kick off without the three guys I mentioned before, but hopefully the team's cautious approach to those injuries will have all three practicing sooner than later. Jarrett is locked in to a starting role, more or less, but the other two are competing for gigs and need to be out there as soon as they reasonably can be.
We'll see what Thursday brings on the injury front.
